Valentine's Day is around the corner, and whether you're celebrating with a long time love, a new romance or a close friend or family member, going out on the town is in order. This year, take your V Day date out for dinner at one of Hampton's many award-winning, local restaurants. Our city is filled with innovative chefs and restaurateurs who delight in preparing seasonal, regional fare that is as tasty to eat as it is beautiful to look at.

You don't have to blow your budget or break out your formal gear to eat well on the town on Valentine's Day. Many of our favorite, local restaurants are casual, relaxed and affordable. If you're a seafood buff, looking for a waterfront view, prefer small plates or just want a relaxed meal at your nearby, local tavern, you're in good luck.

Here are 5 local restaurants we're sure your valentine with swoon over. Stay local (remember, Virginia is for Lovers!) this Valentine's Day, and make this a holiday to remember. Cheers!

Friendly waitstaff, a high energy environment and a delicious beer, wine and cocktail "bible" (menu) round out the experience for big fun and so much flavor.

The Deadrise
This delightful, cozy waterfront restaurant is a true gem, and a perfect spot to visit on Valentine's Day if your special someone loves seafood. This charming space is located in historic Fort Monroe and only seats 48 customers, meaning you'll be part of a quiet, quaint and delicious seafood experience. Famous for their crabcakes, seafood specials and ride up boat slips, you'll love watching the sunset over the water while you delight in fresh, local fare.

Venture Kitchen and Bar
This eclectic and delightful tapas, pizza and small plate spot makes delicious cocktails, bright, colorful salads and even hearty sandwiches during lunch hour. Take your special someone out for their brick oven baked pizza, sparkling cocktails and their famous daily specials. Their innovative menus make it easy to eat something entirely new every time you visit, and if you've found yourself in a restaurant rut, break out with a love-filled meal here on V Day.

Mango Mangeaux
This delightful, french and creole style bistro is a truly one of a kind experience, and is a perfect spot to visit anytime of day (including brunch!).
